Frontier Declares Bankruptcy

By miller22 | April 11, 2008

Frontier AirlinesIn attempts to stay hip with the times, Frontier has entered chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.  Of course the big parallel being the shutdown of ATA, Aloha, and Skybus last week, but fear not, Frontier customers.  Frontier Airlines will continue to fly while they reorganize.

This is not entirely unexpected as the Denver airline has seen less than stellar financial performance for quite some time.  While not a complete stranger of profitability, Frontier has struggled significantly after Southwest’s surprise decision to go after Frontier’s passenger base in Denver.

For those of you outside of Denver who haven’t had the opportunity to know the Frontier brand, you’re missing quite a company.  Well known for their culture and specifically for their commercials, Frontier has found quite a loyal customer base.

For more commercials by Frontier, you can find them in our Airline Commercials Collection.

I saw this news, I hope they don’t go under. I cant help thinking that customers will worry about booking with them and losing their money if the airline goes under though :-(

While “competition is good for the customer” , these kind of things will give indeed us problems from time to time. I mean airlines from/to a specific city is indeed a small market, so seldom there is room (enough profitablility) for more than one/a few player(s).

They spelled it ‘maintenence’. It should be ‘maintenance’.

I hope Frontier can pull through, but SWA seems to be stepping on their toes by increasing their Denver routes. :(
