Hawaiian tops DOT on-time rankings PDF Print E-mail
Super-punctual Hawaiian Airlines has confirmed its status as the United States' most reliable carrier by recording its 30th straight month as the most on-time American airline.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) released its Air Travel Consumer Report for April recently, showing that Hawaiian bettered all other U.S-based carriers with 94.3 per cent of flights arriving on time.

The other airline taking heart from the DOT's report is JetBlue. The low-cost airline had the lowest proportional level of cancellations, the fewest oversales of any airline, and had the top-ranked baggage handling, beating Hawaiian into second place in all three categories.

Both JetBlue (5th) and Hawaiian (4th) were also in the top five for fewest proportional complaints throughout the month of April, along with Aloha Airlines (1st), Delta subsidiary Comair (2nd), and Southwest Airlines (3rd).

Hawaiian and Aloha have the advantage of short-haul, island-hopping flights as their main service, meaning punctuality is less of an issue. Year-round excellent weather also means fewer delays due to harsh weather conditions.

However, finishing ahead of the rest in punctuality for every month that the airline has been reporting figures is no mean feat and Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian Airlines' CEO, claims that this is down to sheer hard work.

"It's one thing to talk about being the best, it's another thing to just do it," Dunkerley said. "After 30 straight months on top, it's clear no airline, both here and nationally, is better at serving its customers."
