LGA - DCA
Figure 4 - LGA - DCA Predicted and
Actual Passengers Q1 2000 - Q3 2005
After September 11, 2001, Washington's
DCA airport remained closed to all traffic until October 4. This strongly affected the results for the
LGA - DCA market, and the effect can be easily recognized during Q3 and Q4 of
2001. Due to the large cities of New
York and Washington DC
and their proximity, there were significant markets which affected the LGA -
DCA market. These included: LGA - BWI (Baltimore/Washington International
Airport), LGA - IAD (Washington Dulles
International Airport),
JFK - DCA, JFK - IAD, JFK - BWI, EWR - DCA, EWR - IAD, and EWR - BWI.
ATL - MCO

Actual Passengers Q1 2000 - Q3 2005
Once again, the
results show the effects of September 2001; however, the market characteristics
permitted the most accurate prediction of the series. Both ATL and MCO are the only airports to
serve this market in their respective cities, which made for a simplified set
of variables compared to the other series.
