It's one thing to design an ugly airplane, but its an entirely different thing to design one that actually flies. Here are some of the ugliest airplanes ever created...and flown.

Delanne Duo-Mono

This one was actually a French design commandeered by the Germans. The cockpit is actually the back of the airplane, which made 6 o'clock shots rather painful.

Handley Page Heyford

With a fuselage that seemed to be disconnected from the wings, the Heyford looked like it was about to fall apart...which it did.

The actually made more conventional looking Lysanders, but for some reason they let Dr. Frankenstein work on this one.

The many comments it elicited, while mostly humorous, made me feel sympathetic for the poor Air France pilots who had to endure them.

Good one Written by Guest on 2008-01-24 18:26:31 I'd have to disagree on the Breguet 765, it's a beautiful aircraft, although one with non standard lines. One of the most unique ever designed for sure. There is a good model of it available for FS9.
