Flyglobespan Applies to fly 767 to Orlando Sanford PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 05 January 2006
On January 4th, Globespan, now know as Flyglobespan, requested authority to fly between Glasgow, Scotland and Orlando Sanford, Florida as early as May 1st using a Boeing 767-300ER in a three-class arrangement. The airline plans to offer daily service starting this June and extending until September when they will seasonally cut frequencies to three flights a week until May, 2007. According to Flyglobespan's application, the 767-300ER's will be flown at approximately £3,083 ($5,411 USD) per block hour at a total seat cost to the airline of £173.01 ($303.67) per seat. Initial fares show prices ranging from £109 - £169 in economy, £159 - £209 in premium economy, and £324 in business class.

Flyglobespan began as a charter operator in 2001, but quickly moved to scheduled service in 2002 using wet-leased aircraft from Channel Express. After acquiring bankrupt Cougar Leasing Ltd. in 2003, then Globespan was able to use Cougar's operating certificate to begin scheduled service with their own aircraft. FlyGlobespan's fleet currently consists of two 737-300's, four 737-600's, and three 737-800's. Channel Express operates two additional 737-300's in a wet-lease agreement. The delivery of one 767-300ER is scheduled to arrive in April 2006, and a 737-700 is scheduled for delivery in May.
